Let’s Talk about Anti-Blackness within diverse focused communities. Anti-Blackness examples would be:
Voiding the value of Black people by often not seeking their opinions and expertise or asking them to perform stereotypical “natural talent” roles. Have you ever been in a situation similar to that or witnessed something similar?
Not following Black leadership by over-questioning the direction, work, and style of Black leaders. Have you ever been in a situation where you’re leading and it felt as though you were being questioned in a condescending way?
Assuming intimacy and relationship without putting in the work and being overly demonstrative or using “hey sister, or hey girl,” when little to no work has been done to build a real relationship. Whooo Chile can we talk about it?!
Overall we want to feel as though we are being heard and welcomed within our community. It's something Black women fight for on the daily and in order for things to change, people must be aware and acknowledge their privilege and how they use it to make room for those who are in the shadows.
